Back in December of 2006, I wanted my breast implants removed and a breast lift. I had consulted with a doctor on two different occasions and thought he was the one to do the job. Well, little did I know that he already had a bad history of surgeries gone badly. I started running a fever as high as 102 degrees, my nipples turned black and I could see white pus behind all the black dead tissue. I called the doctor each time, and each time he would tell me that I didn't have an infection. On one occasion he even yelled at me that I didn't have an infection. I saw him in his office and still he claimed that I did not have an infection. He was right on one part, it wasn't one infection, but three.
Next, I consulted with yet another doctor whom I was referred to but he was reluctant to take me as a patient, but did advise me to go to Clear Lake Hospital, as there was a doctor on call that was a good plastic surgeon.
That was the night that I saw Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Mark Barlow for the first time. When he walked into my room I felt a calm and peacefulness come over me. It was as if he had a glow around him of peace and caring. Since that night I believe he wears a halo of goodness. I believed in him whole-heartedly, that his training and experience could make me better. It was a long hard road of three surgeries and packing wounds for six months, but Dr. Barlow never gave up the fight. Each time I came out of a surgery I knew things would be looking up. He saved my breast. I only wish I had gone to him first so that I would have saved myself the physical (living with holes in my breast for months while infection drained, undergoing general anesthesia several times, and pain), emotional (fear and stress), and financial costs.
Finally, I have to say Dr. Barlow is one of the most caring doctors I have had the pleasure of being in my life. If ever asked for the name of a good Plastic Surgeon, “I would say Dr. Mark Barlow, he rocks!”
